INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
For submissions to "Far Eastern Entomologist" please use these rules. Example of a manuscript design is given after the rules.
Editorial team asks you to follow the rules very carefully. It will help editors, reviewers, and the layout team to work faster.
When you submit your manuscript
Manuscripts must be sent to the editor-in-chief
Prof. Dr. Sci., Sergey Yurievich STOROZHENKO
E-mail: storozhenko@biosoil.ru
Please prepare the three following files for submission:
1) WORD in rtf format without any figures. In the end of the text give all figure legends. Please use this two columns format for your manuscript.
2) PDF of the text based on file 1.
3) PDF of all figures/plates* with legends under each one. You can compile these in Word and then print them out in PDF. To make PDF easy, you can optimize and compress it. The quality of the plates will be reduced, but it is fine for submission and review purposes.
*on the stage of submission the editor does not need original plates of figures.
Please make a final check of the entire text that these rules are followed, for omitted references before submission. Also make a final check of the "References" section for references not cited in the text.

FIGURES
– Please note that the journal has a matter size of 18 cm (height) x 12 cm (width) (printable area of the main text and plates) (two pages on standard A4 format page).
– A figure or plates of figures (with legend below them) must fit this size of page.

– A figure or plate of figures must be cropped to avoid extra white areas around figures.
– Colored figures or plates of figures are accepted in JPEG; resolution no less 300 dpi, saved with highest quality.
– A figure or plates of figures containing only black & white lines/dots are line art works and must be scanned as such (i.e. 1 bit, monochrome line art) at 600 dpi (maximum 1200 dpi). They should be saved in TIFF file and LZW compression is recommended to be used to reduce file size for easy sub-mission by e-mail.
– Plates containing grey scale drawings and photographs should be scanned at 300 dpi and saved in TIFF (use LZW compression) or JPEG at the highest quality.
– Please be sure that the plate of figures (colored, black & white, grey scale) is flattened (no active layers).
TABLES
– Please use the table function in your Word processor to build tables so that the cells can be easily re-sized to fit the page by the typesetters. Never use the "Tab" key to type tables, nor use space bar to adjust space. If you did that, please correct them.
– Please create a table in this page format.
– A table must be placed directly in the text or at the end of the text. In the latter case, please indicate where in the text you would like it to appear.

Federal Scientific Center of the East Asia Terrestrial Biodiversity, FarEastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladivostok 690022, Russia.
Summary. An illustrated description of a new chironomid species Diamesa kolyma sp. n. of the subfamily Diamesinae from the Kolyma River basin (Russian Far East) is given based on the adult male, pupa and larva. The new species is closely related to Diamesa bertrami Edwards, but differs well from it in the shape of the gonostylus, size and shape of anal point, superior volsellae and some other features of male.
Key words: taxonomy, new species, Russian Far East.
