Present study covers the systematic position of the genus Aphanurus and molecular taxonomy of Hemiuridae and Lecithasteridae families. A total of 1912 and 1257 alignable characters were available for analysis of in the 18S rRNA gene and 28S rRNA gene datasets, respectively for Aphanurus specimens studied. Phylogenetic analysis of Hemiuroidea showed obviously polyphyly of the families Hemiuridae and Lecithasteridae. Representatives of these two families formed single large group, including members of different subfamilies. These results indicate on groundlessness of Hemiuridae and Lecithasteridae families. A major corrections of keys to trematodes of these two families are needed.
