Composition and distribution of intertidal macrobenthos of Furugelm Island were investigated in January and February 2008. Low temperatures and seasonal fall of the sea level produce considerable reduction of species composition of the flora and almost total absence of the fauna. Drifting ice extensively destroys the communities in middle and lower levels of intertidal in northern and western coasts of the island.
