The adaptive reactions of common brown algae at coast Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk in the light of their biotechnological cultivation

Year: 2005, Issue: LI, Pages: 124 - 136

As a result of studying temperature conditions for sporification, development of ga-metophytes and early sporophytes of brown algae in the seas of Japan (coastal Primorye) and Okhotsk (coastal area of Tauyskaya Guba and Babushkin Bay) the conclusion about adaptation of their life cycles to the conditions of vegetation are made. On the shore land of the Sea of Japan due to excessive heating of water during summer period all the stages of the life cycle of algae are timed to strictly determined time span. On the foreshore of the Sea of Okhotsk water temperature is favorable for development of zoospores and germinating of young sporophytes during almost the whole year. These peculiarities of algae biology can be used for organization of their successful cultivation. At the coastal area of the Sea of Japan seeding of substrates for cultivation of Laminaria japonica (Aresh) shall be conducted at the end of September - early October, at the coastal area of the Sea of Okhotsk seeding of substrates by zoospores of Alaria marginata can be conducted from June to October.
