Response of Quercus dentata Thunb. seedlings on the influence of high concentration of sulphur and lead in the soil

Year: 2004, Issue: L, Pages: 122 - 133

The change of morphological and physiological properties of germs and seedlings of Quercus dentata Thunb. in the response on the experimental increasing of concentration of heavy metals (lead) and sulphur in the soils is analyzed. On the early stages of ontogenesis the high tolerance to the high concentrations to the toxic compounds appeared to be characteristic for the species. During the vegetative period (160 days from seeding) the life state of germs and seedlings was normal: neither dead plants nor visible chloroses and necroses of foliage. However, very high concentration of lead caused the abnormal development of the leaf blades.
