Problems in systematics of the larches by features of wood anatomy

Descriptions of wood anatomy of the genera Larix, Picea and Pseudotsuga were critically analyzed to find a possibility to identify these genera by anatomical features. Species key of the larches by wood anatomy is given. A first attempt to find anatomical features characterizing sections and species lines of the Larix was made. Comparative analysis has demonstrated that wood evolution did not always correspond to the evolution of morphological features using in systematics of the larches. Three sections and two subsections may be determined in Larix by wood anatomy.
