Life forms and seasonal rhythm of the forest ephemeroids in the south of the Russian Far East

Year: 1996, Issue: XLII, Pages: 127 - 138

20 spp. of ephemeroids belonging to the families Ranunculaceae, Papaverace and Liliaceae occur in forests of the Russian Far East. According to the structure of underground organs, ephemeroids are divided into 5 groups of life forms (LF). Each group includes 1-3 LF, which differ from each other by the patterns of shoot formation. I. Thin-short-rhizomtous polycarpics (P), geophytes (G) with great number of accessory roots (Adonis amurensis, Ranunculus ussuriensis, Semiaquilegia mandshurica) represent 3 LF. II. Thick-short-rhizomatous PG with small number of accessory roots (Anemonoides amurensis, A. raddeanum, A. reflexa) represent 1 LF. III. Tuberiferous PG with small number of accessory roots (6 spp. of Coridalis from the section Pes-gallinaceus and Shibateranthis stellata) represent 2 LF. IV. Tuberostoloniferous PG (Corydalis buschii and C. remota) represent 2 LF. V. Tubero-bulbous PG (3 spp. of Gagea, Allium monanthum and Lloydia triflora) represent 2-3 LF. Depending of ecological conditions Corydalis remota has 2 LF: tuberiferous and tubero-stoloniferous.
