The emerald necklace of the marine biologicals station "Vostok"

Here are the results of the field investigations 1988-1991 of the vascular plants of Marine Biologic Station "Vostok" (Institute of Marine Biology, Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) near Nakhodka on the area 4 square km. 581 species from 343 genera and. 101 families are revealed. The main families are: Asteraceae - 78, Poaceae - 45, Cyperaceae - 37, Ranunculaceae - 29, Rosaceae - 27, Lamiaceae - 23, Caryophyllaceae - 20, Apiaceae - 18, Fabaceae - 18 and Polygonaceae - 17 species. The main genera are: Carex - 29, Artemisia, Chenopodium, Poa, Potentilla and Viola - 7 species per genus, Galium and Ranunculus - 6 specie's per genus, Juncus and Senecio 5 species in each of them. The examples of close and distant floristic relationships are given. A special attention is paid to the history of the taxonomic investigations connected with the authors names. 7 species included in -the Red Data Book of the RSFSR (1989) are mentioned. 11 species are proposed for the protection at the regional level. The flora of the Station is compared with the floras of 8 territories at the same latitude in the Russian Far East and 2 - at the same longitude in the Ukraina and USA that permits us to give some conclusions about the level and dynamics of floristic richness and diversities. The level of the flora adventization is revealed for all the territories under discussion.
